My heart is full, Still can’t believe that am 26 already..I genuinely love birthdays, but this one in particular was different. How was it different 😃 I usually wouldn’t do anything(in regards to birthday celebration) on my birthday and this one definitely followed that pattern😆 but I thought I said this one was different, paradox right.This one was indeed different. I made a conscious effort to be joyful . Feelings that isn’t based on happenings, Joy that isn’t based on weather things are going well or not. Which usually isn’t the case when it comes to celebrating birthdays..don’t get me wrong..the euphoria of birthdays,the butterflies of birthdays and the gifts that comes with it are usually not far fetched but definitely not the joys . Joy is more like a permanent asset while happiness is transient. Joy definitely stays, happiness comes and goes so why aren’t you more joyful if you are a child of God? We have very good reason to be since “the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy”(Psalm 68:3) and our worship songs should “tell of his deeds in songs of joy” (Psalm 107:22)!

To know that God Is Utterly Committed to my Joy is definitely mind bugging. In fact, there is a sense in which he is as committed to our joy in him as he is to his ultimate purpose in the universe: God is most glorified in you when you are most satisfied in him. Joy gives you a sense of satisfaction. So for me been so joyful wasn’t an option .

So I decided to share these 26 joyful scriptures on my 26th birthday. Take your time to read through,I pray that these scriptures blesses you. The first three (3) are my anchor scriptures the rest are my favorites scriptures.

1 ) Proverbs 4:10-13 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of your life shall be many. I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you go, your steps shall not be straitened; and when you run, you shall not stumble. Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is your life

Dear friend, take my advice; it will add years to your life. I’m writing out clear directions to Wisdom Way, I’m drawing a map to Righteous Road. I don’t want you ending up in blind alleys, or wasting time making wrong turns. Hold tight to good advice; don’t relax your grip. Guard it well—your life is at stake! – MSG

2) Psalm 37: 4-6 NIV Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him and he will do this.He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.

3) Proverbs 9:11 ESV For by me your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.-

4) Psalm 20:4 May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans!

5) Ephesians 3: 16-17. Pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,

Well, first of all apologies for being so inactive for the past couple of months. I want to believe I’ve been so busy😊😊 lol.

Let’s talk about stress today, shall we🙌..am currently experiencing acute stress Why? So I submitted a request for a particular rotation 2 weeks ago and I was so certain that I was going to get it but lo and behold I didn’t get it. I put all my eggs in one basket(that’s is even my major stressor) I should have opted for an alternative..My next rant would be about clinical rotations in St Vincent and the GRENADINES.

So why are we talking about stress, if there is one thing that humans have in common,then that one thing is stress. And we all respond to stress in different ways. Too much stress eventually leads to health problems.

Stress is a very common word that we all throw around . Infact I think the word has been bastardized.

In St vincent , their favorite words ; stress and harass 😑 .you are either stressing them or harassing them.(talk for another day)

According to Cleveland clinic Definition “Stress is your body’s reaction to change that requires an adjustment or response”

In simple English, when your body shift from it’s default mode into usually a fight/ flight mode. The feeling you get when you are overwhelmed, overloaded and struggling to cope with demands or alterations. The feelings you experience is as a result of this fight/ flight mode or mechanism. Two main hormones are released during this mode; Adrenaline and cortisol. The physical symptoms you get are triggered by this hormones.

Your body was designed in such a way that it react to the slightest change and I guess over the years we’ve known the word stress to be a negative word but in actual fact stress is your body’s reaction to any change at all that requires an adjustment or reshaping. So it doesn’t have to be a negative stressor. Moving houses is a stressor,giving birth is a stressor, changing phones (from IphoneX to IPhone 11)😁 is a stressor but these are all positive stressor. So the triggers doesn’t have to be a negative stressor, But usually the feelings you get are negative.

How you react and deal with these feelings can help you reduce the effects of the stress;

One is to recognize your own stressor then figure out what will destress your stressor 😁😁😁😁😁 most people have somethings that helps them relax and destress; spending time with friends, spending time with God (this really helps) listening to music as well.. really you can’t exhaust this list. There are tons of destressing activities..Go online and be knowledge about them.

Get a support system, I personally find this to be very effective. So develop a network of social support for example if you ain’t the friendly type, start learning to say hi to people, complement their looks or outfit, through that you are establishing conversations and what this does for you is that, it for a moment takes your mind off the stressor.

Also have an optimistic outlook, change the way you view a stressful event. For example, after I was told that the rotation wasn’t going to be available all the wires in my head were all over the place, they disconnected infact I was God this wasn’t the plan bla bla bla,yadi yadi yada…lol..I was just basically ranting and he said to me all things work together for good to them that love me, even with these words I was still ranting in my head..but eventually my wires reconnected 😆😆😆😆. So have a positive outlook..this really will keep you sane and lucid.

After you’ve done all of these things and you still ain’t seeing result, then talk to a doctor ( talk to me_**winks**) we usually suggest therapy(ies) and some certain medication..

Being a medical student involve working harder than you’ve worked in your life,it comes with an expectation to work harder on average than most other students..so it’s important to be flexible and effective in your work.Just to list couple of things that I think you should put into consideration……


Do you prefer libraries or studying at home..study where you are less to be distracted..it’s important that you find out what works for you..don’t try to do what every other person is doing

Group studying

The benefit of group study is working through and reinforcing difficult concepts..it also keeps you motivated and sane..

group studing is effective because you are able to teach what you’ve learned.groups should be small thou,study with only 1-3 other people..this will reduce the change of you been distracted and your productivity will not be plummet.large groups has the ability to Do otherwise.

group studying helps you to reinforce the material for yourself and also help out your mates..This technique is called FEYNMAN TECHNIQUE..I suggest you give it a try

Powerpoint /Textbooks 

Using either your power point or textbooks,summarize what you read into your own words..by doing this,you are retaining the important information and organizing it in a way you will understand.

keypoints/condensed notes

Have key points that will generate a comprehensive notes..condense them into few key notes by organizing and restructuring the information.

Bring out the high yield points from your power point and rephrase them in your own words..this is an active learning process and it will reinforce the material


It is important that you fully understand your material,break them down into junks,relate with your material as your material,meaning,make it personal..medicine is really about human body,so as you study put yourself in it..let it be real to you..

Repeat what you study..It takes 64days of repetition for you to get into long time memory..as you repeat,you are daily memorizing your material..

make your own flash cards,by making your own cards,you are again taking advantage of the active learning process.

reviews your cards daily

When I first got into medical school, there was so much that I didn’t understand. As one of the first in my family to pursue medicine as a career, there was a lot of uncertainty and trial and error. I wasn’t nearly as effective at studying. I didn’t manage my time nearly as effectively as I do now. I was easily swayed by things and people ..I eventually realized that I needed to create a system that works

The fact that perfection was a thing for me ,I didn’t stop believing that I could do more.I was zealous with wisdom ..just a brief throwback

My first few days was so surreal,just the thought that you are in medical school was so overwhelming and unexplainable.adjusting to the new environment and space took a moment..knowing that am actually doing this,actually studying medicine is exciting and also overwhelming,knowing that am on the road to becoming a medical doctor.

My classes were definitely not monotonous,each day was different,my first semester,I did 3 courses(a semester is 4 months in my school)Biochemistry,history and embryology.
You show up for each session with no idea what to expect.it is dynamic,interesting,exciting but at the same time demanding ———you have to studyyyyyyyyy!yess

I met different people from different backgrounds some were graduates,international students,some just left high school ..

Moving into uni,however,is a whole new experience which brings about an array of different challenges that are coupled with living independently .
